What Is the Rice Bowl Arc? Synopsis Roundup | Hachiware's "Memory Rice Bowl" [Chiikawa]

In a cave, Hachiware was playing his guitar and singing a new song — "Eat ramen, aaand who cares!" — when a vigorous swing of his arm sent the rice bowl flying, and it broke. He tried repairing it to see if dirt would hold it together, but the bowl crumbled apart with a "morori," and he gave up: "No good." And so begin the few days of searching for a new rice bowl.

Going together with Chiikawa to the tableware shop at the market, Hachiware compares the rows of dishes — "It'd be nice if they had one the same size" — then picks up a rice bowl and decides on the spot: "This one might be good!!" But on the way home, when he turns the just-purchased bowl over, there on the bottom is a pattern that looks like a face. Hearts pounding, the two double back to Yoroi-san (Armor Knight)'s shop and hold the bowl out: "This is..."

Told that it has turned into a "face," Yoroi-san (Armor Knight) is surprised — "It really is!! I never noticed!!" — and apologizes over and over: "Sorry for not explaining it properly!!" Asked "Are you okay... with this bowl?", Chiikawa turns bright red and answers "Yes, please," and the bowl is wrapped up once more. On the way home, Hachiware is delighted that the brand-new rice bowl has already gained a "memory," names it the "Memory Rice Bowl," and, returning to the opening song — "After this... eat ramen, aaand who cares!" — the episode comes to a close.
