Hachiware finds a page of scary stories on a screen and tries to tell Chiikawa about what it says. Before the screen's black text and ominous pictures, the two are left with a feeling that does not seem easy to dismiss as ordinary reading. Hachiware worries about behind and around them, and Chiikawa, while still in the same place, also directs attention beyond the screen. The computer frame, dark-colored heading, and the pair's small silence visually support the unease left after reading a ghost story. What happens goes only as far as the two feeling a sense of wrongness; it does not explain what lies outside the screen.

After seeing the scary story, Chiikawa and Hachiware look away from the screen and around the room. When asked if they are going to fight, Chiikawa nods firmly, and Hachiware says they will fight together too, gripping the same kind of tool.

Usagi appears while wearing a strange glove-like object, surprising Chiikawa and Hachiware. Hachiware wonders where it came from, and Chiikawa follows the shadow and movement it creates with their eyes. Usagi shows no concern, swinging or throwing the object, so the difference between the other two's caution and Usagi's momentum stands out. The finger shapes, shadows left on the wall, and black object flying away show that what they had feared has appeared as a concrete belonging.
