Synopsis

The commotion begins when Shisa and Hachiware step into the venue of a festival illuminated by lanterns. Amidst the echo of a song praying for good fortune near a bonfire, an unfamiliar large presence sits enshrined on the altar. It was Kurimanju, whose body had previously swelled into a large, round shape after being stung by a swarm of mosquitoes.

The people around welcome its appearance as a bringer of good luck, securing it with ropes so it cannot move. While wanting to rescue Kurimanju from the altar, Hachiware and Shisa are overwhelmed by the festival's frenzied atmosphere and struggle to make the decision to untie the ropes.

Kurimanju moves its body wildly to break free from its restraints, but the crowd perceives this as a new form of the god, praising its tall stature even in their song. The more it moves seeking help, the more its intentions are misinterpreted as a sign of blessing. The gap widens between Hachiware and Shisa's desire to rescue it and the crowd's perception of welcoming it as a god.
