After a scene where Chiikawa and Hachiware happen to meet Rakko at a restaurant that looks like a standing soba shop, Hachiware starts playing "Gekokujo Online". While Chiikawa watches over them from the side, their rank rises from two hundred thirty-seventh to ninetieth, and Rakko encourages them, saying they could aim to be a top ranker. Eventually, Rakko also starts playing the game but fails their first attempt. Afterward, when the rank displays as one thousand twenty-first, Rakko mutters that Chiikawa and the others might be the real teachers.

Hachiware continues playing with the goal of reaching first place, but ends up at thirty-third after being attacked by a rogue swordsman, and is surprised to see a third-place display. Rakko invites them to yakiniku to celebrate entering the top ranks, and upon hearing their recent results over the meal, decides that training is needed next. Chiikawa also opens their Weeding Certification book and grips their pencil again, envisioning themselves passing.

During their training, Hachiware pays attention to the reach of Rakko's weapon and calls out to Usagi, who is carrying a long stick. Under a tree, Rakko and Hachiware drape large leaves over their bodies and share a drink, and Rakko suggests going on a Subjugation together once they have trained enough. The challenge that started with game rankings leads to their next goal.
