Story guide

Hachiware decides to have lunch in a flowered meadow and prepares corn soup and a cheese sandwich to make it a little more luxurious. After taking a drink, they take a large bite of the sandwich and enjoy the cheese filling. They accept the crusts as part of the meal too, chew slowly, and feel their stomach grow warm. By the time they finish, they feel like lying down in the meadow and basking in the sun. Hachiware's solo lunch follows a quiet sequence of preparing food, eating, becoming full, and resting, with no other event taking place.

When Hachiware sees a white mushroom-like growth extending from Chiikawa's head, they realize it may be a parasite. Chiikawa is unsettled, but Hachiware decides to remove it and says they have had a similar experience. After checking the base, Hachiware finds that the root may come out too and reaches toward it carefully so as not to cut the skin. They also mention that a parasite they had before was delicious when stir-fried, so the treatment and food discussion proceed together. Chiikawa remains surprised by the suggestion as the post ends just before the cut.

Momonga walks while expressing a desire for white rice and carrying a lidded container. When they open it, the inside is hollow; Momonga calls it a hole and worries that what they had expected is no longer available. The costume's unexpected function and the trouble it causes Chiikawa are shown together, ending just before they are freed.

Cultural and language noteTakoyaki is a dish originating in Osaka, made by cooking wheat-flour batter with octopus and other ingredients into round balls. Here, it is the motif for the round red costume.

Story guide

In the forest, Hachiware faces a large pale-yellow creature. A long white substance like candy or dough extends from it, and Hachiware puts it in their mouth and finds it sweet. The creature tries to leave, but Hachiware keeps holding the extending substance and pulling with a determined air. The wish to get something edible and the creature's attempt to escape overlap like a tug-of-war. Hachiware takes several bites and confirms the sweetness but still does not stop pulling. The creature's identity and the final outcome are not shown, leaving only Hachiware's appetite and persistence.

Chiikawa asks Hachiware, who is reading a book, whether they want to make a list of things to do. Hachiware suggests putting stickers next to completed items, which Chiikawa finds appealing. Furuhonya, who has been looking at a book nearby, suddenly says they want to see it too. The idea begins to take shape not as a simple schedule, but as a game of marking accomplishments.

Outside the cafe, Shisa hears a rumor that it is going to close. Nearby Yoroi-san (Armor Knights) say it would be sad if someone earned a Super Albeiter certification only to lose their job. Shisa hears this and stops while looking toward the cafe. Whether the rumor is true is not yet shown, but it reaches Shisa, who is pursuing the certification, as unsettling news. This begins the chapter as Shisa's own story.

Kurimanju stands holding a small blue can, while Yoroi-san (Armor Knight) stands behind them with a can as well. Kurimanju opens their mouth and makes a short sound, and Yoroi-san responds with a sigh-like sound.
